Reflection and Evaluation

In this project, the topic that I chosen is about people who have disability and having hard time in walking or travelling around. Firstly I need to know what is a possible problem for those people might faces when they travelling around in a daily life. I decide to do primary research which I decide to walk around the city and trying to think what might be the problem. When I already found some problem that I can think of, I came back to do a secondary research of a device that made to help this kind of people. I found that there are a lot of interesting design to help this kind of people. I came out with an ideas of designing a electric vehicles that is portable to bring them along everywhere they are going. After I get my final outcome I’m satisfied with what I have design, but looking at this project there are some areas I want to improved in my next project. I need to do more design that I came up with so I can developed and made my design better than this outcome, also I felt that I should do some experiment to understand more what is the real problem that those people might faces in their daily life.

When: It was recorded in Frank Sinatra album on 18 November 1996. Also get remastered in his album again in 2008

I have chosen this because:

               I have listened to this song a few years back, but it really impacts me when I saw movie named Joker and this song is included in some scene. It felt it really connect to me and my favorite character in the movies during the scene. The lyrics of this is talk about person which faces a difficulty in life and how many times he fails doing something, he still fights tills the end even though he fails again. So, in listen to this song always make me realis that everyone life in not perfect and everyone had faces difficulty in their life. To myself this song means a lot to me because I fails a lot in my studies and did received good grades or feedback from school when I was young, then its give me some inspiration for me to try my best for studying even though I fails again in the ends.

Week 1: Reflection and Evaluation

After I completed first week in my interior design course. Throughout this week I think I was quite like an introduction to what I’m going to study throughout the year. In each classes we go through the study plan and what we’re going to complete this year, I also have received work during the first week for interior design class which I giving me some ideas how can I approach and produce work this year which it was quite interesting.

            First of all, The introduction my tutors teach me how to do research on primary and secondary research, which I already have learn from my year one but It completely new way how can I approach doing a research and more effective ways. In primary research I found that it not quite different from what I learned last year but in secondary research my tutor teach my how to add a bibliography or some links which I can refers for my research, which is quite new for in using a website which can give me some information about each website I refer my research from. After finishing from my research, I think it a fun part of this week. Which I must get some inspiration from the designers I have research to produce my own design in a space. I found that it was quite difficult for me at first that I did not have an idea what should I design and how I going to do it. In the end, I think and get a reference from designer himself. Also, I cannot draw out my design well due to problem which I have to drawing it digital ways and I am not familiar with drawing on my iPad.

            So, after completed this I think that throughout this course, I must improve myself with the ways my design goes, how I think and draw what is in my mind to a paper. I think that this course can help me in spot that I’m weak on

In this mind mapping is about what I planning to do before starting the project. I have listed what I’m going to research and do in this project inside Place & Spaces topic.

Secondary research

In this research I’m trying research on what I am doing to get much ideas as I can, by research on the topic and what is the main ideas in designing this as an interior design. What make this style outstanding from other designing styles.

After I finish with my secondary research I might find obstacle on finding some interior designer and I manage to find it in the end. I cam across with two interior designer name Nate Berkus and David Rockwell. Starting with David Rockwell I found that his designing style is quite luxurious, he lots of gold tone and luxury material but in the other hand I found that Nate Berkus designing work is quite minimal with less furniture and clean tone color in his work. So It is quite challenging for me to make out a industrial room designer style by combining two designer working style a a inspiration in my work. So planned to design a minimal room hat still give a industrial style feeling with tone and lighting from David Rockwell work.

Primary Research

This is my primary research, where I visit my father office. As a primary research I taken this picture by myself. In visiting this location give me more inspiration of how my design should look like by the tones and furniture.

After Primary and Secondary research

After I complete both primary and secondary research I get lots of ideas from hat I see from internet and actual places. I have learned to think by myself of how I’m going to plan out through this project and combining two designer style into my won work was quite challenging for me but I think I would try my best to complete it.

Water color

In process of developing my final interior design, I have a ideas of bring two designer style to inspired my ideas and also using my primary research in this design. First I trying to using a grey color to represent gloss or metal materials which is represent David Rockwell that his work often in a luxury styles and use gloss and metal materiel. Also I found that Nate Berkus work are quite minimal and plain, I decide to make my design minimal as possible but also keeping a industrial style from my primary research.

Video Games: The Sims 4

In this work I try to experiment my design in The Sims 4 games that is able to create a house or interior design but also with a limited furniture and material in this games. So I found that it is quite challenging I adapt my design with the material that given in the game so it might not be possible to get what I imagine for my design 100 percent.

-Abandon ideas, out of topics

I found that most of his work is a furniture designs so its might be out of my topic because I’m planning to do a interior design and it doesn’t require me to design a furniture or getting any ideas to my interior design.

So In the earlier weeks I misunderstood of what I’m trying to do in my project. So I did research on furniture designer and trying to develop the furniture to place in my room. After a week a get some designer rough and developed sketch of the furniture but I found that it is quite off target that I’m setting for my project so I decide to start all over again.
